it was just an assesment.. i dont really know what to think to be honest. The doctor person seemed nice... had trouble understand that my phobia IS the worst thing that can happen, rather that ill think something will happen if i was ill though...
Why is it so hard to udnerstand ill never know. |

As you said, it was just the preliminary assessment, so don't lose heart. You've made great progress over the last few months, so you can be proud of how far you've already come. I'm proud of you, _________________ "I will not allow the fear of tomorrow rob me of the joy of today" |

Ditto Ditto Ditto
And if that was an assessment it may not be him you see when it comes down to actually having the CBT. Often the consultant assess all clients and then refers to the most suitable therapist. That may not be the case though.
How long before you get a clinical apporintment to start the therapy? Is there a long waiting list?
You will conquer this - you are one very determined lady. _________________ “You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses.”

Having just joined the forum, I came across this thread about CBT. How did you get on with the CBT?
I am currently having CBT for a phobia too. I have had a few sessions so far and would be interested to hear how someone else found the experience. I have found parts of the process very difficult in that I have had to relive a traumatic event over and over again as part of the therapy. Does it get easier? Has your phobia been cured?

It is hard Elaine, but am determined to beat the phobia as it has been impacting on not just my life but my family too. Next session is on Friday morning, not looking forward to it, but know I have to keep going!
