I think it is important to make this explicit...and I do believe (I haven't asked them) that Hec and Dingsy would agree.
Providing support, advice, comfort and compassion is something you can only do when you yourself, are feeling supported and comforted. This forum has no expectations of it's members to provide support for others if they themselves are feeling low and stressed. Please only provide that support if you feel up to it (I believe, support provided from that place, will be more potent)....and if you don't feel upto it, come and get some support for yourself.

I understand your sentiment, but actually I have found it empowering to be able to offer others support even when I am feeling low. We all have troubles and issues from time to time(that's sad fact of life)and so whilst accepting help it feels good to give it too. I have a friend who has been a great tower of strength, letting me talk things through and letting me shed a few tears etc. She listens despite her own problems right now. I give her support in return, as both her kids have special needs and while being a MS sufferer finds some days just too much to bear. Having eachother to lean on for MUTUAL support is invaluable. Stope either os us feeling uilty about moaning!
I am sure no one will ever feel obliged to offer support they do not feel able to give, but obviously I would imagine that everyones suggestions/contributions/ support is always appreciated, whatever there own state of mind.
I hope I've not waffled |

No, not waffled and thanks for saying how it is for you.
I guess I was thinking of another forum, where I felt under pressure to say something supportive when maybe I didn't feel up for it.
I just hope that members know that they can come here and receive support, whether or not they have offered support themselves.....now I am waffling |

Yes, I guess in life we sometimes do feel under pressure to give advice when we feel at a loss what to say or do to help. Sometimes in those circumstances it's wise to say nothing at all! lol I totally understand all you said. It was good of you to make people feel comfortable about offering support if tehy felt able.
