True, very true.
I was caring for a young 15 year old girl, in an adolescent unit. She'd been abused over the years, very badly abused. Part of her presenting problems, was her aggressiveness towards her family and towards those trying to help her.
I have seen her looking incredibly ugly (which is how she felt and had been told she was by her abusers) AND, on good days, when she was feeling cared for and allowing herself to be cared for, she was beautiful.
Very sad
