How I make myself feel better...I decided the other day that I haven't been making any effort with my appearance for a while... tend to go to work in jeans and trainers, no make-up (I hardly ever wear it) and unshaven legs (why bother when I don't have a boyfriend?)...
Anyway made a decision last week sometime that I would make more of an effort so I might actually find myself a boyfriend!! So last night I shaved my legs etc... this morning I have on heeled boots and some make-up (only eye shadow and mascara)!
It works... it makes me feel more confident and positive, especially the heels and make-up.
Going to keep this up for a while, I had got into a bit of a rut with it all to be honest... the only thing I keep up is washing my hair everyday!

Am sure you look lovely (hairy legs and all!). But if it makes you more comfortable and confident, then it's worth doing for that alone.
(What's wrong with hairy legs anyway.... )

I must admit I find it ever easier to pay my appearance no attention but when I do I do feel better for it.
I think it is like the l'oreal adverts
Making an effort makes us feel more 'worth it'
I also find it is worth making an effort these days because when I do I feel I look good wheareas for a long time I didn't feel it made much difference how much effort I made I still looked a mess so it all seemed so much a waste of time.
I could never be one of those who won't leave the house without make-up and I don't feel I have to wear make up and make a huge effort every day - so long as I'm clean and tidy but do like to push the boat out occasionally

Good decision Jo. I remember reading somewhere, ages ago now, that wearing really nice underwear makes you feel better too. Even though no one will be seeing it, it gives you confidence and makes you feel good. So I am sure your idea is as good.
I know my friend Roger would walk around, and even came to our wedding, in camo jacket and jeans. He'd wear it for work too, and would sometimes be unshaven. It didn't bother me, and he and I both agreed it was that rebellious part of him. What was fascinating was his transformation, just after we got married, and as he fell in love.....he started coming to work looking so smart, and so stunning. he says, it was actually an expression of how he was feeling on the inside, rather than the other way round, so we realised, that he had been feeling low, and unworthy, and now all of a sudden, he was feeling good, positive and in love....this was before he declared his love for Vanessa bless.
They're getting married in July
Hmm, I'd better go and shave my legs now, and take off my mucky gardening boots

I was quite ill for a number of months and felt that I couldn't be bothered about how I looked ,when I felt better I made the effort and now even though I don't go out as much I always make sure I look my best....it really does make me feel better about myself..
I'm sure your self confidence improves Jo when you feel you look good...do it for you...
