IT's me again

I know I have already introduced myself, but things have changed a little since then.
I only discovered this forum a few days ago, and typically of me, thought it was very new
I was very excited by what I saw, and I wrote to Hec and asked if there was a place for me on the Admin/Mod team. She said yes, and I now show up in Orange as Admin.
Now then, I have no idea what this means, or how it helps me , but I guess I'll discover that as time progresses.
My reason for wanting to be more than a member is I feel I have some helpful things to offer. I trained over 12 years ago as Mental Health Nurse, and then as a psychotherapist. I worked for many years with people both in groups and idividually before I went on to manage a Psychiatric Nursing Home and then retired to France.
I hope, as this forum expands, and I find my way around more (remember, I'm on dial up  ) that I will be able to help members who are struggling with issues and worries and all that life throws at us.
Other than that, I am not sure what I will be doing if anything, so I think I'll just hang around and see what comes up.
Maybe, I'll run a group, I'm not sure.
So, that's why I'm Orange.
Please feel free to ask me questions, I just love being asked cos then I get to show you how clever I am No, truthfully, I like answering questions.it really is the easiest way to answer problems.
For anybody interested, I trained in Transactional Analysis, it really is a great and accessible model for psychotherapy.
for reading.

You'll be a great asset to the forum Kathy!

Need an avatar Kathy - your posts look a bit bare at the moment. What do you fancy let's see if we can find you a perfect one?

There's got to be a chicken one somewhere!

Congratulations too, on moving into admin.

Kathy, welcome again in your new role. As bad as this sounds I hope I do not have to ask you any serious questions, unless its about chickens.

Love the avatar.
Nannyp

Me too, I guess by now (I think I'm remembering your age from Risi) you've reached where you want to be and have made all the changes you may have been planning.
Oh, and please ask me about chickens

Hey Nanny - once you've stoped changing you've stopped living!!! don't you agree?

Mind - I'll agree with you - we do learn to accept ourselves a lot more!

When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple
with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
and satin slippers, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired
and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
and run my stick along the public railings
and make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
and pick the flowers in other people's gardens
and learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
and eat three pounds of sausages at a go
or only bread and pickles for a week
and hoard pens and pencils and beer mats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
and pay our rent and not swear in the street
and set a good example for the children.
We will have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practise a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

We gotta have some perks cos as far as something go getting older sucks!
Nannyp

My friend Roger visited a couple of weeks ago...he bought me that book, with drawings and the poem :D
I have to say, getting older for me has been great......I just avoid the bits that ache and move slower and enjoy the good bits

congratulations NannyP - am glad you're here with us...

Well done nannyp!!

Excellent news Nannyp.

That poem (When I am old I will wear purple) reminds me of a colleague at work. She stood up and read it out and raised quite a bit of money for charity. Unfortunately my colleague is no longer with us, she died a few years ago from cancer. However when I hear that poem it reminds me of her ... I'm just sorry she didn't live to be old.

Oh, what a shame :?
