Jenny-the proud homeownerWhen their offer on the flat was accepted a few months ago, it seemed like ages for the completion date-but we got there! Just after midday, they got the call to tell them all was complete. Both are working a late shift this week, and don't finish till 8pm, so it'll be tomorrow morning before they collect the keys. They plan to pick up coffees and bacon butties on their way down, and have a picnic in the garden.
Tomorrow evening, Brian, Iain and I will meet them from work, and pop over for the guided tour. They're borrowing Iain's inflatable bed, as they can't wait until they have all their furniture moved over the following weekend. So over the weekend, we'll take down as much as we can by car. Their lounge furniture-a lovely 7 seater corner unit-is ready much sooner than anticipated, and Furniture Village will be delivering that next weekend too, so all is coming together really well.
One of my aunts came down yesterday, to visit her brother in Chagford, so she and her partner are coming into town on Saturday morning to catch up with the happy couple. A celebratory family lunch will follow-before Iain leaves us all......he and his friends are hiring Canadian canoes! They're paddling down to a local pub, some 12 miles distant, which is only accesible via the canal, camping there overnight, before paddling back home the next day! Busy weekends for all involved, it seems.
