My satellite broadband connection.Hmmm, after months of eager anticipation of a faster, easier way to access the internet, we finally installed our satellite system on 25th March.
It wasn't very long before I realised that our 2Gig quota per month, was not going to be enough, even though I don't do YouTube or download music or films
I quickly decided Scrabble (and my 28 games) was eating loads of Mgs, and have gradually finished off my games and moved to Lexulous but ...
13 days into our contract period, and we are not far off our limit
I still have dial up and over yesterday and again this morning, have been using dial up, to allow me to be where I want to be without feeling anxious about my usage.
I miss Scrabble loads, have a few games left to play, but am missing the communication on there with people I have come you think of as friends.
In fact, 3 of them, all met at random on Scrabble, are coming out to visit in Oct...and we'll have a mini Scrabble tournanment (along with 2 localish Scrabblers).
So, it looks like I will be keeping dial up (will have to use my pocket money to pay for it) as my sat connection alone is not enough, for me, and for Mark...especially when we're both on Facebook.
Oh well such is life

Having got the system wouldn't it be cheaper to increase your limit on your broadband - or is your telephony free?

There is an option to buy one more Gig per month, but I don't think that would be enough Hec, if I return to Scrabble.
I would spend a lot of time on line, feeling bad for being online....whereas today, I do not give a damn

What about looking at packages that have unlimited download? We run two computers at home 24 x 7 nearly and have never paid for extra. We are with Vispa.

Elaine, this means, I don't give a damn about being online for hours....not how I feel about losing Scrabble

Laura, this is my only option, I live in an area that won't pick up any other high speed service. My dial up is unlimited, and of course, I've been used to sitting with Scrabble ticking over for hours.
It's okay though, I have decided I will pay...it's worth it, as I don't want to lose touch with the lovely people I have met there. I've stared a load of new games today, and it's great to be chatting with them again...the winning or losing is secondary now
