Teenage pregnancy project is ditched.A multi-million pound project to reduce pregnancies among youngsters deemed at risk has been abandoned after research showed it was not cutting conceptions.
The £5.9m Young People's Development Programme (YPDP) offered support and advice to disadvantaged teenagers in 27 parts of England between 2004 and 2007.
But teenagers who took part were actually more likely to fall pregnant than those in comparable groups.

If there is money to spend, I think it should be invested in SURE start....it is only by educating the young parents, and providing them with good models for parenting, and starting at the very beginning, that an eventual decrease in teenage pregnancy will come about. It's a very long term investment, which governments seem unwilling or unable to commit to.

i live in a poor area with hugh pregnancy rates. and lots of empty sure start groups.
the best place to educate children is in schools...
Most teenage girls are well educated in these matters but go ahead anyway.
The fact is, they make a choice, they are informed. But always think why me when it happens.. Theres bodies are too well developed with a childs mind.
