The Dark Side of the Light Chasers by Debbie FordThe Dark Side of the Light Chasers by Debbie Ford
I listed this book on RISI today as I couldn't (or wouldn't if I am truthful) get into it.
Blurb from the back ....
What are you hiding from yourself?
Why do we find ourselves disproportionately angry with the selfishness of a friend, the laziness of a coworker, the arrogance of a family member - or even the rudeness of a stranger? Why do the same old things get to us so easily, and so intensely? Our "same old things", Debbie Ford explains are clues to our dark sides - and to the emotions and traits that we fear most in ourselves.
In this enlightening guide, she explains how - consciously or unconsciously - we hide and deny our dark sides, rejecting these aspects of our true natures rather than giving ourselves the freedom to live authentically. Here she shows that it is possible to acknowledge and accept our so-called weaknesses - and that in fact, these qualities may prove to be important, hidden strengths. Perhaps a touch of "laziness" is just what the workaholic needs; perhaps some judicious "selfishness" can save us from exhaustion and resentment.
I would be more than happy if anyone thought it might be useful to take this off the RISI list and just circulate it around here to anyone that might like it. I would happily post it freely, if I thought it was going on a useful journey.
Let me know what you think.

I'm about to send you my ady for the Viktor Frank book and wonered if you wanted to send me this one at the same time. (see how thick they are it may be cheaper to post them separately. I'm really interested in the Frank one but the other one I haven't hard of. I'm pretty interested in forming an opinion of it.
Don't worry if someone else has requested it. I'll probably just do a quick skim read of it anyway to assess the readability of the language and the believability of the advice.
There are some brilliant self help books out there and some absolute CRAP

Couldn't agree more. I will post that one off too on Monday. What about if we had a book swap on here but restricted to members only - or maybe they could do that on RISI for us and restrict it only to full members of PCPC? Maybe you could have a chat with them. We would all still be using both sites, RISI would still be getting the links and the contributions from Amazon. What do you think? x
