What software do you use for your data

I have tried many applications over the years but the one I have stuck with over the last 5 or 6 years is Legacy. I would never advocate a particular application but this one suits me and I think that is the answer.
There are lots of trial and free applications on the web (ask me if you want any names) and I would suggest trying at least a few of them first.

I've been using "Family Historian", but am not too keen on it, so will have a look at legacy. Have to admit, that although I started several years ago, I do a lot, then leave it for months! Really could do with having a more structured approach to it in general.
I also like "genes reunited", as it's very easy, and a good starting point for finding relatives. Having said that, I'll put one of my "genes" experiences in a different thread!

I have a limited tree on Genes and it has brought some success .... mainly for other people. I have emailed out more gedcoms than I can count.

Think my problem with "Family Historian" is sheer clumsiness on my part. It's so easy to enter data wrongly, that I find I make lots of mistakes. Probably my fault, though, rather than the software's.Have also used "Geneaolgy suite".
Have to say that "Legacy" does look impressive.I've just upgraded to vista-presumably that would be ok?

You probably know that I am a Mac user at home, so can sometimes find it difficult to find software written for the Mac.

I tend to just use web based tools ie Genes Reunited or Ancestry.com.

I am very wary of putting too much on a web based system because there have been quite a few cases where the data has been used in a commercial operation, that is your data is hijacked and sold.

Oh Dave - don't tell me that! If anyone knows of any good Mac compatible software, please let me know x

Angel,
Have a look at this link.

Thanks Dave - will have a good trawl through that later x

I use Family Tree Maker 2006, I find it really easy to use and I can transfer my gedcom onto GenesReunited quite easily.

I use family tree maker, too ... very easy to use, and easy to fix mistakes you make along the way
