After entering about 130 relatives in the "genes reunited" tree, I noticed a slight problem. Not on the tree itself, but in the data sheets. Every entry-and I mean, EVERY, had the d.o.b. as an approximation. Granted some should have been approximations, but not all! I was then left not knowing which ones should be approximations, and which ones were accurate entries....... The joys-and the hair pulling! To further exacerbate the problem, I couldn't ammend the entries!

I actually entered into quite a long dialogue over this with them. It wasn't a common problem as they had few other complaints about it. It took 4 months from start to finish to get things workeable again. By which time, of course, I had completely lost track as to which dates I had entered as approximations! To be honest, not sure if the glitch was at their end or mine-I was surprised that they hadn't been innundated with complaints!
I still quite like the site occasionally for ease of use, and it has also given me a couple of interesting leads. |

Genesreunited is a mixed blessing. I've lost count of the number of folk who have simply copied my whole tree into theirs (including living relatives) even though the link is only "by marriage" rather than a "direct ancestral link".
Having said that, I've got in touch with more distant cousins than I can remember (well over 50) courtesy of the site, so I can't really complain!! And MOH is in touch with his half brothers and sisters - without GR he wouldn't have been able to. |

Wow Rose - that's fantastic news. I'm still currently ploughing on more with Ancestry.com than with GR because the changes aren't always working for me.
Though I must confess to having had a little bit of a break from it all lately. Enjoyable though it is, sometimes it does scramble my brain! _________________ Be who you are, and say what you feel ... because those who mind don't matter ... and those who matter don't mind.
