I grew up as a Christian so I can understand many of the comments made here. I think there is no greater comfort than the truth. That's why they say, "the truth shall set you free". Invoking the supernatural may comfort you, and I respect your need for that warmth, but I think it is unlikely to be the truth. I'm pretty certain that the real truth will give us more comfort, make us feel safer, remove our ignorance and allow us to make better choices.

The case against Heaven plc for constructive dismissal opened today with Angel Gabriel stating the case for the prosecution.
It is alleged that the guardian angel assigned to the human Doris was forced to leave her job due to bullying and harassment by other guardian angels.
The bullying and harassment had been happening on at a low level up until the 20th of March 2007 when there was a sudden increase mainly due to the human who goes under the name of angelfruit making it public knowledge that you could ask your guardian angel to get slow drivers to turn off the road they are traveling on so as not to impede their progress.
The incident that finally forced Doris’s guardian to resign happened one Tuesday afternoon when Doris decided to visit her sister in the next town.
Doris started off down the road at her usually 30 mph (which is more than fast enough in her opinion) but hadn’t got far before she felt an irresistible urge to turn left at the next junction. The next thing she knew she had turned left. She stop the car turned round got back on the road she should have been on, but hadn’t got far before she found she had turned left again. She began to feel a bit confused but turned around and carried on. Some time later and after doing about half a dozen unplanned left turns she thought she had better turn around and go home as she was getting a bit frighten by now. But the same thing happened on the way home. Eventfully unable to take anymore Doris came to a dead stop on a one way street. She was found by a passer by gripping the steering wheel and staring vacantly out of the windscreen.
As soon as an ambulance had been called and Doris was on her way to hospital her guardian angel went straight to the Angel Resources Manager and resigned on the grounds that other guardian angels were bullying her by making Doris turn of the road so other humans go get to where they were going a bit faster. Doris’s guardian angel maintains that the increase in this type of insistence is do to angelfruit’s guardian angel who started the trend of moving slower drivers of the road. :ang12
The case continues tomorrow.

Ok so I am being a bit silly but maybe if we have guardian angels we should be carefully what we ask them to do for us because what’s good us may cause problems for someone else.

Paul you say you grow up a Christian but your comment reads like that is now longer the case. I imagine that as your got older you began to question these beliefs and you now long believe in a supernatural God. I once read about a Methodist ministers son who had become an atheist and was say how it had set him free, Others condemned him for taking the easy way out. Living life as a Atheist is easier than following Christ. Would you agree with that?
I personally fond that the Christian life was very tricky and difficult. In may household practically everything was a sin and the constant threat of ending up in hell was always there.
I am still looking for the truth and looking at all points of view but I want there to be a God of love who will meet out Justice to truly evil people. |

I agree with that and I'm going to try your little trick next time I am trying to get to work and find myself stuck behind a tractor or slow car. :D but not too often....... |

While being totally fascinated by religion (now reading about Buddhism) and enormously respectful to the traditions, you are correct that I'm now an atheist. Actually, I'm not sure if I ever bought it, even when I was young confirmed Christian.
I'm not an agnostic either, I'm strongly atheistic due to the overwhelming exposure to empirical evidence refuting the theistic hypothesis from my scientific background. I feel very strongly about the scientific method, although I would never impose my beliefs on other people in the way evangelicalism does. If more people understood the genius and beauty of the scientific method, I'm convinced there would be less supernaturalism.
I disagree that atheism is easier, I think it is more difficult because you have to consume much more information and data in order to explain (to yourself) how the world works. Simply decrying "God done it" is surely the easier approach.
I feel for you blueflower because it sounds like the fear of hell has caused you to be "good". Surely, it is nobler to be morally-centric because you want to be, not because of threat from the great surveillance camera is the sky. |

I believe in the existence of angels and 'work' with them almost on a daily basis. I don't see it as a 'belief system' because, say for example, I'm afraid of there being no afterlife. I believe in angels/spirits because I have seen and heard them quite a few times, and no I wasn't at a low ebb at the time. I've always been able to pick up on them. I've also received physical messages from loved ones who have passed over which have made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end
I do angel readings for friends and family all the time. And I meditate. Meditation promotes such wonderful feelings of wellbeing that it's very addictive. I recommend it to anyone; you feel so refreshed afterwards.
I also know we're all part of the Universe so if you really desire something, for example, send it out to the Universe and it will come to fruition (so long as you don't worry it won't happen). All sounds very bizarre if you're not a believer!! I've written a wish list of all the things I would like to happen to me and my family & friends and put it in a little wish trinket box bought in America. So far a lot of the things have come true, I believe because I trusted they would.
I could go on and on about this topic but I'm sure you're all thinking I'm a barmcake by now hehe.
But seriously if anyone would like an angel reading, let me know. although have to admit I'm probably better at them if I know the 'subject' personally. |

| By the way, I was brought up as a strict Catholic and had the fear of hell drummed into me from an early age. But I never believed God was like that and often got into trouble for voicing doubt. :) |

Snap to the catholic upbringing Glynis.
I believe too that what we put out we get back. To a large extent we make our own luck (good and bad) by what we expect to happen and if we don't feel we deserve good things in our life then we will definitely self sabotage to make sure we don't get them.
If we do nothing but complain and moan about the bad things without actually taking responsibility for our own part in it and working out what we are going to do about it then we have only ourselves to blame when things don't get better. _________________ “You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses.”

Glynis, would you be able to do me another angel reading when you get a chance please? What my angels would like me to know again? Only do it if you have time, I know you're a busy lady x |

Want to share an aspect of our holiday, which will fit in rather well here (I'll bore you all with doggy pics later).
As I've mentioned before, I often feel a comforting and protective presence in my life, and frequently joke, in a light hearted manner about my guardian angel looking after me.
We all know how bad the weather has been over the past few weeks. From 9th-23rd, we were holidaying in the Yorkshire Dales, a damp spot at the best of times! Anyhow, we managed to be out walking, about 8 miles daily, never once getting wet. The forecast always said that the weather would be changeable/heavy showers, but we're experienced and well enough equipped to feel confident enough to cope. We weren't tackling anything too challenging!
We would spend somewher between 4-6 hours out walking, watching the rain clouds and black skies from a distance, and frequently laughed at them not raining on us. Until that is, we arrived safely back at the car-and without fail, within minutes the skies opened, and the rain started. Had this only happened once, I would have counted our lucky stars, but this must have happened about 10 times.
I really don't know what to make of it-am I just being fanciful to interpret this as my guardian angel holding a rather large umberella over me? |

That’s amazing Elaine. I think if you believe in something strongly enough you can fit it in to things happening around you. Seems a bit much of a coincidence for that to have happened to you so often, so yes you may indeed have a guardian angel. I think we could all do with one of them at some point in our lives. Maybe need to borrow her (or him) next time I go on holiday. |

Or you could just take me with you Pat-I'm sure he/she will help out my friends too!
It was uncanny though-and I have to admit to feeling a bit uneasy about it-not in a threatening way, but, "what's this about?" sort of feeling. |

As a newcomer I am fascinated by your earlier posts...
Angels and the belief in Angels is a subject that fascinates me....I have seen the white fluffy feathers and always believe that an angel has passed over, even the possiblity that the feather could belong to a pigeon does not alter my belief...
A few years ago when very down in spirit following my father's death I was aware that someone stroked my head which was very comforting. Just recently when in need of some reassurance I was aware that 'someone' gave me the hug I needed...there was no one with me at the time these comfort measures were given...
As a small child growing up in a very RC home, I was taught that everyone has a guardian angel....I always imagined mine to be man in a long white coat ....I think he is always with me...
