According to the experts we should all be aiming for 10,000 steps a day - but most of us do around 2,000.  It is known though that mums with babies and or toddlers already do more than average - but not 10,000.  I would wear it for a week all day and see what you tot up.

Aim to walk for 20 mins every other day to start with and see how many steps this adds to your total.

I found, to make a difference to my weight without having to diet too hard I needed to be walking for at least 50 minutes 4 or 5 times a week - but I wasn't doing much moving around when I wasn't walking.

This is a good free site.  You can set yourself a target month by month and record what you do.  I find it helps having a definite target to aim at.  You can also see how far it is that you walk if you are just going to the shops or school or whatever

Why not start a thread in the members section to spur you on

Made my 1000 miles walking in 8 months rather than the year of my target. Woo Hoo.

I am one of the most sedentary people I know!  I have been using the activity meter on my DS with Walk with Me.  Today I had a meeting that took me out to a new bridge we've built and a park and I reached my (more realistic target of 3000 steps) by 11am!  Yeah - go for it, it really does inspire you to keep on the go.  Good luck x
